Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Suspending the examinations while quality assurance measures took place was a strategic decision to demonstrate the commitment to prioritizing the integrity, reliability, and relevance of the examination process. The pause allowed AONN+ Foundation for Learning (FFL) to focus on aligning the examination content with the Oncology Navigation Standards of Professional Practice (Professional Oncology Navigation Task Force (PONT) Standards, March 2022) and demonstrates a commitment to staying current with the evolving landscape of navigation, ensuring that the examinations accurately reflect the knowledge and skills required in the field. Read the PONT Standards.
At this point, the decision regarding the format of the examinations, whether paper and pencil or computer-based, has not been finalized. We do recognize that computer-based testing is highly desirable and advantageous. Our goal is to meet the needs of navigators and extend our reach to as many individuals as possible.
The cost for the examination has not yet been determined.
Extensive efforts have been undertaken, and are ongoing, to pave the way for the examination relaunch in 2024. Candidate handbooks, preparation guides, and testing details will be available on our website a minimum of 90 days before the examinations take place. Website updates coming soon! Visit the AONN+ FFL website.
Although there isn’t a formal review course currently offered, you will be able to find the examination content outline and a Guide to Certification Preparation for each exam on our website at least 90 days prior to the examination.

AONN+ FFL recognizes that a job does not need to contain the word “navigator” to be comprised of navigation-related duties. Therefore, we review each applicant’s work history and consider overall navigation experience when accepting or rejecting applications. Please ensure your resume or CV is accurate and clearly outlines duties related to each position you’ve held, as we utilize this document to make this determination.
We currently do not have an electronic version of the exam. It can only be administered in person, via paper and pencil. Please note, we are working on development of an electronic version for the future.
